street violence

Street children have long been targets of violence and abuse. Already living in marginalized situations, they are extremely vulnerable and have few resources to protect themselves from abuse and violence, in many cases by the police, vigilante squads, uniformed security forces and other authorities.

In Latin America and elsewhere around the world, Amnesty International and local human rights organizations have reported on cases in which street children have been harassed, threatened, attacked, beaten and in some cases, murdered.
